Open Access Statement
Multidisciplinary Engineering Science Open is an open access journal, meaning that all published articles are freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without any subscription or access barriers. This ensures that knowledge is accessible to readers worldwide, fostering the democratization of scientific research and promoting global collaboration.
Readers, institutions, and researchers are entitled to read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full texts of articles published in MESO without asking prior permission from the publisher or authors, provided that the original work is properly cited and not used for commercial purposes.
The journal strongly believes that open access accelerates scientific progress by enabling rapid dissemination of knowledge and enhancing the visibility, accessibility, and citation of authors’ work across the global scientific community.
Copyright and License
Authors who publish with Multidisciplinary Engineering Science Open retain full copyright of their work. Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal the right to publish and disseminate their article under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
This license permits others to share (copy and redistribute) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon) the work for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the license is included, and any changes made are clearly indicated.
By maintaining full ownership of their intellectual property, authors benefit from wide visibility and academic recognition, while readers and researchers gain unrestricted access to the published knowledge for educational and scientific advancement.

Plagiarism Policy
Multidisciplinary Engineering Science Open upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including verbatim copying, paraphrasing without proper citation, self-plagiarism, and data fabrication or falsification.
All manuscripts submitted to MESO are screened using iThenticate—a globally recognized plagiarism detection software—to ensure originality prior to the peer-review process. The acceptable similarity index threshold is determined by the editorial board, considering both overall and per-source similarity percentages.
If plagiarism or unethical behavior is detected at any stage—before or after publication—the editorial board reserves the right to reject, retract, or correct the manuscript, in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Authors are responsible for the accuracy, authenticity, and originality of their submitted work.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
To sustain the open-access publication model and ensure continuous editorial and technical quality, MESO applies a modest Article Processing Charge (APC) of 10 Omani Rials (OMR) per accepted manuscript.
This fee covers the costs associated with peer review management, digital archiving, copy editing, typesetting, DOI registration, website hosting, and online dissemination. There are no submission fees, no additional charges for color figures, and no hidden costs.
Payment of APC is only required after the manuscript has successfully passed peer review and has been accepted for publication. Waivers or discounts may be granted in exceptional cases, particularly for authors from low-income countries or under institutional agreements with the publisher.
Peer-Review Process
The Multidisciplinary Engineering Science Open employs a double-blind anonymous peer-review system, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain unknown to each other throughout the review process to prevent bias and maintain objectivity.
Each manuscript submitted undergoes an initial editorial screening to verify its relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, structure, and compliance with ethical standards. Manuscripts that meet these criteria are then assigned to two or three expert reviewers in the relevant field.
Reviewers evaluate the submission based on:
-
Originality and contribution to knowledge
-
Methodological rigor and clarity
-
Relevance and technical accuracy
-
Quality of data analysis and interpretation
-
Clarity of presentation and logical organization
-
Significance of findings and potential impact
The review process typically takes between 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity. Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may decide to:
-
Accept the manuscript as is,
-
Accept after minor or major revisions, or
-
Reject the manuscript.
All editorial decisions are made impartially, based on scientific merit and alignment with the journal’s mission. Authors receive constructive feedback to improve their work, and revised manuscripts are re-evaluated before final acceptance.
Archiving and Repository Policies
Multidisciplinary Engineering Science Open is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. To ensure permanent availability, the journal implements the following archiving and self-archiving policies:
-
Digital Preservation: All published articles are archived and maintained on the journal’s official website and digital repositories managed by Darzin International Company (Oman).
-
Self-Archiving Rights: Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the pre-print (submitted version), post-print (accepted version), and final published version of their article in personal, institutional, or subject repositories without embargo.
-
Indexing and DOI Registration: Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to guarantee persistent citation and online retrievability.
-
Open Access Repositories: The journal supports archiving through recognized platforms such as OpenAIRE, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, SSRN, and institutional repositories, provided that proper citation and the published version link are included.
This policy reflects the journal’s dedication to transparency, academic sharing, and the open-access ethos—ensuring that research published in MESO remains accessible to scholars, practitioners, and the public for generations to come.
